The section between Ontake and Hikawa (now Okutama) was also built by the Okutama Railway, but in 1944 the government acquired it and renamed the section between Tachikawa and Hikawa the Ome Line. With the Chichibu-Tama National Park nearby, the area is bustling with tourists in spring and autumn, but in recent years the area along the line has rapidly become a commuter town for Tokyo, and direct trains are now operated from Ome to Tokyo Station. ...
