An Arab kingdom of the Tanufs in southern Mesopotamia (mid-3rd century - 633). A vassal state of the Sassanid Empire, it was used to defend against the invasion of nomadic Arabs and as a vanguard in the war against the Byzantine Empire. King Amr (reigned 554-569) was famous as the patron of Arab bards, and many poets gathered in the capital, Hira. Nestorian Christianity gained influence in the country, and the royal family converted in the 5th century. It was conquered in 633 by Khalid ibn al-Walid, a general of the Arab-Islamic army.

メソポタミア南部にあったアラブのタヌーフ族の王国 (3世紀中頃～633) 。ササン朝の属国で，遊牧アラブの侵略からの防御と，ビザンチン帝国との戦いの先兵として使われた。国王アムル (在位 554～569) はアラブの吟遊詩人の保護者として有名で，首都ヒーラには多くの詩人が集った。ネストリウス派キリスト教が国内で勢力をもち，5世紀には王家も改宗した。 633年アラブ・イスラム軍の将軍ハーリド・イブヌル・ワリードに征服された。
