Born: May 15, 1844, Mito [Died] October 6, 1915. Tokyo metal engraver. His real name was Takejiro and Yagoro. He began studying under Mito metalworker Hagiya Katsuhei from the age of nine, and then learned calligraphy and painting from Adachi Baikei. He first went by the names Moseiki, Motohei, Teigetsuan, and Kyokuto, but in 1868 (Meiji 1), he moved to Tokyo and changed his name to Katsumin, studying the engraving techniques of various schools and establishing his own family. He was particularly skilled in inlay, nikubori, and katakiribori, and created a style of gorgeous engraving that combined various metal colors. He became a professor at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts and an Imperial Court Artist, and led the craft world in the Meiji period. His major works include "Ranryo-o Figurine" (Imperial Household Agency Sannomaru Shozokan), "Genjoraku Picture Frame" (Tokyo National Museum), and "Hotei Katakiribori Hand Board" (Tokyo University of the Arts University Art Museum).
