Japanese: 海野普吉 - うんのしんきち

1885-1968 A lawyer from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born August 29, 1885. Served as a lawyer in political and ideological cases. Founded the Japan Liberal Human Rights Association in 1947 and became its chairman. Before the war, he was involved in the defense of the March 15 Incident, the People's Front Incident, and the Yokohama Incident, and after the war, he was involved in the defense of the Matsukawa Incident and the Sunagawa Incident. Died July 6, 1968, aged 82. Born in Shizuoka Prefecture. Graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. Written works include "The Journey of a Lawyer" and "Legal Consultation on Human Rights."

明治18年8月29日生まれ。政治・思想事件裁判の弁護にあたる。昭和22年自由人権協会を設立,理事長となる。戦前は三・一五事件,人民戦線事件,横浜事件など,戦後は松川事件,砂川事件などの弁護を担当。昭和43年7月6日死去。82歳。静岡県出身。東京帝大卒。著作に「ある弁護士の歩み」「人権の法律相談」など。
