Luofu Mountain (English spelling)

Japanese: 羅浮山 - らふざん（英語表記）Luó fú shān

A mountain located in the northeast of Zengcheng County, Guangdong Province, China. It is also known as Dongqiao Mountain. Its main peak, Hiyun-cho, is 1,296m above sea level. It is the 7th of the 10 Great Caves of Taoism. There is a huge cavern in the mountain, stretching for 1,000 ri in circumference, and it is believed that this world, similar to the outside world, is inhabited by immortals, and it has been the subject of deep mountain worship since ancient times. Ge Hong of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, famous for perfecting Taoist arts, also retired to Luofu Mountain in his later years and devoted himself to writing and elixir training. [Mugiya Kunio]

中国，広東省増城県北東にある山。別名東樵（とうしよう）山。主峰飛雲頂は標高1296m。道教でいう十大洞天の第7洞天に当たる。その山中には周囲一千里にも及ぶ大洞窟があって，外界同様の世界が広がり仙人が住むと考えられて，古来厚い山岳信仰の対象とされてきた。神仙術の大成者として著名な東晋の葛洪（かつこう）も，その晩年には羅浮山に隠棲して，著述と練丹に専念している。【麦谷邦夫】
