Akisue Fujiwara - Akisue Fujiwara

A poet of the late Heian period. His father was Fujiwara Takatsune, a Junior Fourth Rank Mino no Kami, and his mother was Fujiwara Takatsune, a Junior Second Rank Fujiwara. As his mother was the wet nurse of the Emperor Shirakawa, he became a favorite of the Emperor Shirakawa, and eventually became a Junior Third Rank Shuri no Daibu. During this time, he played a central role in the waka activities of the Emperor Shirakawa's close retainers, and often participated in poetry gatherings and poetry contests. He also served as a judge for poetry contests, and was revered as the founder of the Rokujo Fujiwara family, famous for their poetry studies, due to his hosting of the Hitomaro Eigu in 1118 (Gen'ei 1). He died on September 6, 4th year of the Hoan era. His style of poetry is more eclectic than that of the reformist Minamoto Toshiyori and conservative Fujiwara Mototoshi, who divided the waka world at the time. His family anthologies include the Rokujo Shuri-no-dayu-shu. He was included in the Goshu-i-shu and subsequent collections.

平安後期の歌人。父は正四位下美濃守(みののかみ)藤原隆経(たかつね)、母は従(じゅ)二位藤原親子。母が白河(しらかわ)院の乳母(めのと)であったため、白河院の寵臣(ちょうしん)となり、正三位(さんみ)修理大夫(しゅりのだいぶ)に至った。この間、白河院近臣たちの和歌活動の中心的存在となり、しばしば歌会、歌合(うたあわせ)に出詠したほか、歌合判者も務め、1118年（元永1）の人丸影供(ひとまろえいぐ)の主催とも相まって、歌学の家として名高い六条藤家(ろくじょうとうけ)の祖として仰がれた。保安(ほうあん)4年9月6日没。歌風は、当時の和歌界を二分した革新派の源俊頼(としより)、保守派の藤原基俊(もととし)と比べると折衷的である。家集に『六条修理大夫集』がある。『後拾遺(ごしゅうい)集』以下に入集(にっしゅう)。
