Imre Lakatos
[1922-1974] Hungarian-born philosopher of science. Later he moved to the UK. He synthesized Popper's falsificationism and Kuhn's paradigm theory, and proposed a methodology for scientific research programs. His works include "The Logic of Mathematical Discovery" and "A Defense of Method".
