Ouraiden

Japanese: 往来田 - おうらいでん
Ouraiden
The clan members of Kamo Wakeikazuchi Shrine (currently Kamigamo Shrine in Kita Ward, Kyoto City) were given land in the various villages surrounding the shrine. According to Chiaki Naokazu's Nankoki (1814), citing the diary of Kamo Tsunehisa, a priest from the late Kamakura period, this began in 1303 (Kagen 1). In principle, up to 140 clan members in order of age were given 5 tan of rice fields per person, one tan for each of the five villages in the precincts of Kamigamo Rokugo (Kamigamo Rokugo), excluding Onogo. These fields were allowed to be used for life except in cases of being barred from the precincts due to a crime, and were returned to the shrine upon death, and new recipients were selected from among the clan members who were previously ineligible to receive the land, according to their age.
