Laube - Heinrich Laube

German playwright and critic. Born in Sprottau (northwestern Silesia). A member of the Berlin group of the Young Germans, he edited the newspaper Elegante Welt. In theater, Laube sought a natural voice and a sense of reality, and while he was an active critic, he was also a prolific and talented writer, writing numerous plays and novels. However, apart from The Students of Karl's High School (1846), none of his plays are performed today. In his later years, he worked as a stage director, devoting himself to the development of Vienna's Burgtheater.

ドイツの劇作家、評論家。シュプロッタウ（シュレージエン北西部）生まれ。「青年ドイツ派」のベルリン・グループに属し、『エレガンテ・ウェルト』紙を編集。演劇に対して、ラウベは自然の肉声と現実感覚を求め、活発な批評活動を展開するかたわら、数多くの戯曲や小説などをも創作する多産的かつ多才な作家であった。しかし『カール高等学院の生徒たち』（1846）を別にすれば、彼の戯曲は今日上演されることはない。晩年は舞台監督として、ウィーンのブルク劇場の発展に力を尽くした。
