A collection of laws issued by the Muromachi Shogunate. Because the Muromachi Shogunate claimed to be the successor to the Kamakura Shogunate, each law was considered an additional law to the Goseibai Shikimoku, hence the name. From the foundation of the Shogunate to the Eisho era (1504-21), in the early period there were many regulations on relations with the Imperial Court and manorial lords, the authority of the Shugo, etc., and from the middle period onwards there were many laws related to economy and finance. The oldest is the 100 articles in the "Additional Articles Since Kenmu in the Current Reign" held by the Maeda Ikutokukai Sonkeikaku Bunko, but the "Additional Articles Since Kenmu" in Gunsho Ruiju is over 200 articles. It is thought to have been compiled several times. [Tokuhiko Ushita] Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
