Mount Kentoku

This mountain is located in the Mitomi district of Yamanashi City, upstream of the Fuefuki River in northern Yamanashi Prefecture. It is 2,031 meters above sea level. The summit is made up of a large block of andesite rocks. It is the place where Muso Kokushi underwent ascetic training on the wall one summer. Many hikers come from the Keihin area to see the fresh greenery, autumn leaves, and rock climbing. The general approach is to reach the summit from Tokuwa via Ohira Ranch and then descend along the Doman Ridge. For those with good stamina, there is also a course that leads from the summit to Tokuwa via Mt. Kurogane, Odao, and Higashiokuyamakubo. Kentokusan Erinji Temple is located in the Enzan district of Koshu City at the foot of the mountain.

山梨県北部、笛吹(ふえふき)川上流、山梨市三富(みとみ)地区にある山。標高2031メートル。山頂部は安山岩類の大岩塊よりなる。夢窓国師(むそうこくし)が一夏面壁修行した地。新緑、紅葉、岩登りと京浜方面からのハイカーが多い。徳和から大平牧場経由で頂上に立ち、道満(どうまん)尾根を下るのが一般的。健脚には頂上から黒金(くろがね)山、大ダオ、東奥山窪(ひがしおくやまくぼ)経由で徳和に至るコースもある。山麓(さんろく)の甲州市塩山(えんざん)地区に乾徳山恵林寺(えりんじ)がある。
