Eiwan Bay

Eiwan Bay

...area: 207.5 km2. Located in the south of the province of North Holland in the west of the country, the city developed on both sides of the IJ (now IJsselmeer) and the North Sea Canal, and is the center of commerce, industry, transportation, and culture. The city's name comes from the construction of a dam (now Dam Square) at the mouth of the Amstel River, which flows into the IJ in the 13th century.
