The Letter of John

Also called the Epistle of John, it consists of three parts, the first, second, and third, and is one of the so-called general epistles in the New Testament. The first is more of a manifesto than a letter, while the second and third have the form of letters. It teaches that God is love, and because he first loved us, we must also love one another, and that this is the true nature of Christians, and that we must be wary of the many heresies and antichrists within the church. The first is closest to the Gospel of John, and the second and third also show a similar affinity, so it is traditionally believed to have been written by the same author as the gospels, but there are doubts about this, and there is a strong theory that it was written by a disciple of John or someone related to his lineage. It is said to have been written in Asia Minor at the end of the 1st century.
