Wayang Golek (English spelling)

...Today, this is also in a state of deep decline, and is only continued by about two dalangs in Central Java. Plays using puppets are called wayang golek. They were invented after the 18th century under the influence of Chinese finger puppets, and there are two types: one based on the "Tales of Menak" (of Persian origin) in Central Java, and one based on two great Indian epics in West Java, centered around Bandung.
