The last book of the New Testament. Apokalypsis is synonymous with revelation. The story is centered around a vision of Jesus Christ as a revelation conveyed to John, and was addressed by John to seven churches in Asia Minor. John conveys various images to the Christian church, which is under persecution from the Roman Empire, and prophesies the fall of Babylon (Rome), the second coming of Christ, the final victory of the Christian church, i.e., Christ's 1,000-year rule, the decisive defeat of Satan, the final judgment, and the appearance of a new heaven and earth, and preaches to strengthen hope and overcome suffering. The concluding words, "Come, Lord Jesus," strongly express hope for the second coming of Jesus Christ as the alpha and omega, the bright morning star. The author is unclear.
