Measuring the length of each part of a livestock's body according to a set method. These measurements and weight allow the size of the livestock's body to be known and the proportions of its body shape to be judged, so this is carried out as a supplementary measure to the external appearance inspection (livestock inspection). Measuring tools include a measuring stick, a measuring tape, and a tape measure, and the parts shown in the figure are measured on livestock standing in the correct posture. 家畜の体各部の長さを定められた方法に従って測定すること。この測定値と体重から家畜の体の大きさを知り，また体型のつり合いを判断することができるので，外貌審査(家畜審査)の補助手段として実施される。測定器具としては，測杖（そくじよう），挟尺，巻尺を用いて，正しい姿勢に立たせた家畜について図のような部位を測定する。【正田 陽一】
