Measuring the length of each part of a livestock's body according to a set method. These measurements and weight allow the size of the livestock's body to be known and the proportions of its body shape to be judged, so this is carried out as a supplementary measure to the external appearance inspection (livestock inspection). Measuring tools include a measuring stick, a measuring tape, and a tape measure, and the parts shown in the figure are measured on livestock standing in the correct posture. [Masada Yoichi]
