An electrical device that continuously adjusts and increases/decreases the brightness of lighting, and is installed in the circuit between the power source and the lighting fixture. Previously, resistors and transformers were used to adjust brightness, but recent advances in semiconductor technology have led to the widespread use of semiconductor dimming methods. Semiconductor dimmers use thyristor phase control technology, and can continuously adjust the brightness of fluorescent lamps in addition to incandescent bulbs, but in this case a dimming ballast is required. Generally speaking, dimmers refer to devices that adjust lighting with a relatively small load, such as in home living rooms, hotel rooms, and restaurants, while in the case of large-scale lighting facilities such as theaters and television studios, they are called dimmers, lighting control equipment, or dimmers. Dimmers consist of a dimmer or dimming unit required for adjusting the lighting, and an operation unit, load selection unit, and preset unit that are combined with this. This allows remote operation with very little power even when the load is high, and allows complex stage lighting scenes to be switched with simple operations.
