A Sengoku daimyo based in Nitta County (Nitta Manor) in Kozuke Province. Initially, he claimed the Yokose clan, which had the surname Ono, and was a vassal of the Nitta Iwamatsu clan. During the Kyotoku Rebellion in the late 15th century, Yokose Kunishige served Nitta Iwamatsu Iezumi and was active in this clan, building Kanayama Castle together with Iezumi in 1469 (Bunmei 1). However, his son Narishige (Norishige) came into conflict with Iezumi's grandson Naozumi, and in 1495 (Meio 4) he seized power, forcing Naozumi into retirement and supporting his son Masazumi. Masazumi was killed by Yokose Yasushige during the Kyoroku era (1528-32). Yasushige's son Narishige changed his name to the Yura clan. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
