Yuki and Miki - Yuki-suki

Japanese:
Yuki and Miki - Yuki-suki
Names related to the rituals of the Daijosai. Yuki can also be written as Saiki or Yuki, and Suki can also be written as Tsugi or Suki. New grains from the sacred fields of Yuki and Suki were offered as sacred food at the Yukiden in the east and Sukiden in the west of Daijokyu, respectively. The provinces and counties of Yuki and Suki were in principle selected by divination and were not specified, but from the mid-Heian period onwards, Omi Province was selected for Yuki, and Tamba Province and Bitchu Province were selected for Suki alternately, and only the counties were determined by divination. The Meiji Tokokurei (Ceremony of the Succession of the Emperor) decreed that the sacred fields of Yuki be located to the east and south of Kyoto, and the fields of Suki be located to the west and north of Kyoto.
