A town in Watari County facing the Pacific Ocean in southern Miyagi Prefecture. The Joban Expressway and Joban Line pass through the town. It is made up of coastal sand dunes, coastal terraces, and the Abukuma Highlands. Rice, strawberries, apples, and dairy farming are cultivated here. 宮城県南部，太平洋に面する亘理(わたり)郡の町。常磐自動車道，常磐線が通じる。海岸砂丘と海岸段丘，阿武隈(あぶくま)高地からなり，米，イチゴ，リンゴなどの栽培が行われ，酪農も営まれる。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。64.58km2。１万6704人（2010）。
