A town in Watari County facing the Pacific Ocean in southern Miyagi Prefecture. The Joban Expressway and Joban Line pass through the town. It is made up of coastal sand dunes, coastal terraces, and the Abukuma Highlands. Rice, strawberries, apples, and dairy farming are cultivated here.
