Yasuko Yanagiwara

Yasuko Yanagiwara
1784-1867 * A poet from the late Edo period.
Born in 1784. Daughter of Ogimachi Sanjo Sanedo. Married Yanagiwara Naomitsu. Studied under Kagawa Kageki and was known as a female poet of the Katsura school. Her family anthologies include "Gekkei Ichiyo" and "Keihoin Iso." She passed away on December 28, 1866. She was 83 years old. Her posthumous name was Keihoin.

天明4年生まれ。正親町三条実同(おおぎまちさんじょう-さねどう)の娘。柳原均光(なおみつ)と結婚。香川景樹(かげき)にまなび,桂門の女流歌人として知られた。家集に「月桂一葉」「桂芳院遺草」など。慶応2年12月28日死去。83歳。法号は桂芳院。
