Also known as Funajima. An uninhabited small island in the Kanmon Straits of Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It has an area of 0.08 km2 . It is a diamond-shaped island made of mesozoic strata, with a maximum elevation of 6m. It is said to be the island where Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro fought a duel in 1612, and there is a monument to Kojiro. 別称船島。山口県下関市の関門海峡大瀬戸にある無人の小島。面積 0.08km2。菱形の島で中生層から成り最高所標高 6m。慶長 17 (1612) 年宮本武蔵と佐々木小次郎が果し合いをした島と伝えられ,小次郎の碑がある。南部に長さ 200mの船渠があり,東端に灯台がある。
