Michiko Kanba

Japanese: 樺美智子 - かんばみちこ

1937-1960 A student activist in the late Showa period.
Born on November 8, 1937. After entering the University of Tokyo in 1957, he joined the Communist Party. Later, he participated in the Communist League (Bund). As vice-chairman of the Faculty of Letters Alumni Association, he was involved in the Security Treaty protests, and on June 15, 1960, he clashed with police at a protest rally held by the mainstream All-Japan Federation of Student Self-Government Federations on the grounds of the National Diet, and died the same day. He was 22 years old. His posthumous collection of writings includes "Smiling in Secret." He was born in Tokyo.

昭和12年11月8日生まれ。昭和32年東大に入学後,共産党に入党。のち共産主義者同盟(ブント)に参加。文学部学友会副委員長として安保闘争にとりくみ,35年6月15日全学連主流派の国会構内抗議集会で警官隊と衝突,同日死去。22歳。遺稿集に「人しれず微笑まん」。東京出身。
