Montague grammar, also known as logical grammar, is a new grammatical theory of natural language that originated from a series of papers published by the American Richard Montague (1930-1971) in the late 1960s and early 1970s. To explain the ideas behind Montague grammar, let us take three English sentences: (1) The student is a man. (2) Every man walks. (3) The student walks.
