Furisodeuo (Furisode fish) - Furisodeuo (English name) ribbon fish

Furisodeuo (Furisode fish) - Furisodeuo (English name) ribbon fish
A marine fish of the family Ocellariidae in the order Opoleiformes (illustration). Fish of this family live in the deep ocean and have a fragile, band-like structure and a mouth that can protrude forward. The English name comes from its shape. The dorsal fin first forms a crest, then continues long and reaches the tail fin, of which only the upper lobe develops and curves backward. The pelvic fin is also large and extends backward. However, as it grows, the crest and pelvic fins shrink, and the tail fin often breaks. It has no anal fin. The body of the Opoleiformes is silvery-white with numerous scattered dark circular spots, and a black line runs along the base of the dorsal fin.
