Born on August 13, 1893. While attending Doshisha Elementary School, he frequented the archaeology classroom at Kyoto Imperial University, where he studied under Hamada Kosaku and Naito Konan. In 1939, he became a professor at Kyoto Imperial University. He established the foundations of Oriental archaeology through his research into bronze bells, Chinese bronze artefacts, and ancient tombs. In 1963, he was awarded the Person of Cultural Merit. He passed away on February 19, 1983, aged 89. He was from Osaka. His works include "Research on the Mirror" and "Sixty Years of Archaeology."
