This refers to combustible natural gas that comes from regions unrelated to oil fields. In contrast, natural gas that comes from oil field regions and contains a large amount of fractions that are relatively easy to liquefy is called wet natural gas. The main component of dry gas is methane, but it also contains carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. It is reacted with water vapor using a special catalyst to produce hydrogen, which is used as a raw material for synthesizing ammonia and methanol. In Japan, there is more dry natural gas than wet gas. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
