River stone
The central settlement of Honai, located in the northwest of Yawatahama City in western Ehime Prefecture. Located at the base of the Sadamisaki Peninsula and facing the Uwa Sea. Former town name. In 1955, it was merged with three neighboring villages to become Honai Town. It was opened up along the highway and was the base for motor sailing ships in the early Meiji period. It flourished as a port town, and the first national bank in the prefecture, the 29th Bank, was established here. The seafood processing industry is carried out here.

愛媛県西部,八幡浜市北西にある保内の中心集落。佐田岬半島の基部に位置し,宇和海に臨む。旧町名。 1955年近隣3村と合体して保内町となる。街道筋に開け,明治初期には機帆船の根拠地。港町として栄え,県下最初の国立銀行である第二十九銀行が設置された。水産加工業が行なわれる。
