Also written as Keka. Cotton fabric produced mainly in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture. It has long been hand-woven as a side job for farmers. It is a typical narrow-width white cotton fabric made with hand-spun warp and weft threads and a dense weave of fine threads, and is used for medium-width (yukata) cloth. It was at its peak between 1804 and 1844 (Bunka 1 to Koka 1), when it was dyed in light or grass-colored colors such as asagi and chigusa, and used for jackets and linings. The same narrow-width white cotton fabric from the Chita region of Aichi Prefecture is called "Oka cotton."
