A brand of coffee produced in Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula. It is known because it was once exported from the port of Mocha in Yemen. The coffee from the Banimatar region in western Yemen is particularly well known and is called "Mocha Matari." It has a strong acidity and a rich aroma. The coffee from Ethiopia on the opposite coast of Africa is also often called Mocha. It is said that this is because its flavor is similar to Yemeni Mocha, or because it was exported from the port of Mocha. The coffee from the Harar region in eastern Ethiopia is known and is called "Mocha Harar." The beans are also longer than those from Yemen and are also called "Mocha Longberry." ◇The "Fair Competition Code for the Labeling of Regular Coffee and Instant Coffee" stipulates that "Mocha Matari" refers to Arabica coffee beans produced in Yemen, and "Mocha Harar" refers to Arabica coffee beans produced in the Harar region of Ethiopia.
