めん‐・ずる【免】

まぬが・れる【免】

〘自ラ下一〙まぬが・る〘自ラ下二〙 (古くは「まぬかる」) 危険なことや不利なことなどから、都合よくのがれられて、そのことに関わらないですむ。具合よく、好ましくない物事に出あわないですむ。まのがれる。※西大寺本金光明最勝王経平安初期点（830頃）四「一切の怖畏を脱(マヌカ)るること得む」[補注]類義語「のがれる」は不快な状況から離れ去る意。「まぬがれる」は不快な状況に遭わないで済む意を表わす。
