Menuma [town] - Menuma
A former town in Osato County in northern Saitama Prefecture. It occupies the alluvial lowlands of the Tone River, which flows east through the north. During the Edo period, the central settlement developed as a post town for boat transport, a market town, and a ferry terminal on the Tone River. It produces rice and vegetables, and also raises livestock. Pharmaceutical and other companies have also established operations here. In October 2005, it was incorporated into Osato Town, Osato County, and Kumagaya City. 36.27 km2 . Population: 28,152 (2003).
