A manor covering the area from the eastern part of Hachioji City to Hino City in Tokyo. It is part of the Tasai district of Musashi Province (west Tama district). The colophon of 10 volumes of scriptures with the inscription dated 1154 (the 4th year of the Nihei era) excavated from a sutra mound in the grounds of Hakusan Shrine in Nakayama, Hachioji City, reads "Funakita Manor in Nishi District, Musashi Province" and includes the words "Ono clan members, etc." The circumstances of the establishment of the manor are unknown, but it is believed that the local samurai of the Yokoyama clan of the Ono clan controlled the manor. It was later divided into Honjo and Shinjo, and both of them became the property of Kokamon-in before becoming the property of the Kujo family. In 1250, Kujo Michiie handed over Honjo to his son Kujo Tadaie and Shinjo to his son Ichijo Sanetsune, but both were vassals of the land steward. In 1334, Ichijo Tsunemichi donated Shinjo to Tofukuji Temple in Kyoto, and later Honjo also became the property of Tofukuji Temple. According to the tax calculation law of the Northern and Southern Court period, the villages in the manor developed on the river terraces of the Asakawa River (Minamiasakawa River and Kitaasakawa River), Ogurigawa River, and Yachigawa River basins, which were tributaries of the Tama River. They were also the shugouke of the Uesugi clan, the Musashi no Shugo at that time. In 1388, both Honjo and Shinjo were exempted from the Ikkoku Heiyo-yaku (average tax on the entire province), but in the 15th century, the Hirayama clan and Kajiwara clan, members of the Bushu Minami Ikki, continued to levy tax on their land, and it is thought that they soon lost their substance as manors.
