...The founder, Artuk, played an active role as an amir of the Seljuk Empire. His sons, Ilghāzī and Sukmān, consolidated the foundations of the dynasty, and from then on, the royal lineages of both branches ruled the cities of the Diyarbakī region until the first half of the 13th century. The royal lineage that ruled the southeastern Anatolian city of Mardin, which was subordinate to the powerful neighboring powers such as the Seljuks, Zengids, Ayyubids, and Ilkhanates, continued to exist until the beginning of the 15th century.
