A former town in Kayabe County, Hokkaido. Located on the east coast of the Kameda Peninsula, it has little flat land. Fishing is the main industry, and wakame and kombu collection is popular. There are many scenic spots and hot springs, such as Kakumi Pass, Kakumi Onsen, and Isoya Onsen. In December 2004, it was incorporated into Hakodate City along with Toi Town, Esan Town, and Tonohokke Village in Kameda County. 158.35 km2 . 7,510 people (2003). 北海道茅部郡の旧町。亀田半島の東岸に位置し,平地に乏しい。漁業が中心で,ワカメ,コンブ採集が盛ん。川汲(かっくみ)峠,川汲温泉,磯谷(いそや)温泉など景勝地,温泉が多い。2004年12月亀田郡戸井町,恵山町,椴法華村と函館市へ編入。158.35km2。7510人(2003)。
