Born: October 4, 1892, Tecsing [Died] July 25, 1934. Austrian politician from Vienna. He was from an agricultural organization and served as Minister of Agriculture in 1931. He was Prime Minister from 1932 to 1934. He allied with B. Mussolini of Italy to resist the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany. In 1933, he formed the Fatherland Front (VF), which united the ruling Christian Social Party and the Heimwehr, while suppressing the opposition and strengthening his dictatorial tendencies. This led to a worsening political situation, and in February 1934, the Social Democratic Party took military action, leading to a civil war in Vienna, but Dollfuss and the Heimwehr won. However, on July 25, a group of Nazis attacked the Chancellery and shot Dollfuss dead.
