Dentures - If you have them

Japanese: 入歯 - いれば
Dentures - If you have them
Also called dentures. Artificial teeth to replace missing teeth. Made of metal, plastic, porcelain, etc., they are used for functional and sometimes cosmetic purposes. In the narrow sense, there are two types: removable dentures and bridge dentures. In the broad sense, they are called prostheses, and include metal crowns and continuation teeth to restore partially missing teeth. (1) Metal crowns. These are used to artificially restore crowns that have been lost due to decay or trauma to the point that filling is not possible, and are made of gold alloys, gold-palladium-silver alloys, nickel-chromium alloys, etc. These are not often used on the front teeth these days. (2) Continuation teeth. Also called sequelae. When the crown is severely damaged, these are used to connect to the artificial crown, using the tooth root as an abutment. Made of porcelain, plastic, etc. Used on the front teeth. (3) Bridges. Also called bridge dentures. Dentures that are placed over adjacent teeth like a bridge to support artificial teeth. Compared to dentures with plates, in which the force of occlusion is borne by the gums, dentures with plates have less of a foreign body sensation and are better for chewing ability, but they place a greater burden on the abutment teeth. They are made from the same materials as metal crowns. (4) Dentures with plates. Partial dentures, used when one or more teeth are missing, consist of artificial teeth, a denture base, and hooks to prevent the dentures from falling out. Complete dentures, which replace all teeth, consist of dentures and a denture base. In both cases, the artificial teeth are made of porcelain or plastic, and the denture base is made of plastic or various metal alloys.
