Calceolaria - Calceolaria

An annual or perennial plant of the Scrophulariaceae family (APG classification: Scrophulariaceae). Its Japanese name is C. crenatiflora. More than 200 species of this genus grow wild in South America and New Zealand, but the ones currently cultivated are hybrids of several original species such as C. crenatiflora and C. corymbosa , and are treated as semi-cold-resistant annuals. There are also perennial species such as C. integrifolia , which is used in European flower beds. During the flowering season, the flower stalk branches out in many directions and grows to a height of 30 to 40 centimeters. The leaves are opposite and oval. The flowers have a small upper lip and a large lower lip that is slipper-shaped. The flowers are solid red, orange, or yellow, or have irregular spots. They flower in March and April when grown in greenhouses or greenhouses. They are broadly divided into the large-flowered Hybrida Grandiflora type, the medium-flowered and multi-flowered Hybrida Multiflora type, and the small-flowered and multi-flowered Rugosa Hybrida type, and the Multiflora type is generally cultivated. Seeds are sown in August, cultivated in greenhouses or houses, and then planted in pots in early spring or in flower beds around April.

ゴマノハグサ科（APG分類：キンチャクソウ科）の一年草または多年草。和名キンチャクソウ。この属の植物は南アメリカおよびニュージーランドに約200種以上自生するが、現在栽培されるのはC. crenatiflora、C. corymbosaなど数種の原種から交雑育成されたもので、半耐寒性一年草として扱う。このほかに、ヨーロッパの花壇などで利用される多年生のC. integrifoliaなどがある。開花期に花茎を多数分枝し、高さ30～40センチメートルになる。葉は対生し卵形。花は上唇が小さく、下唇が大きくスリッパ状になる。花色は赤、橙(だいだい)、黄の単色か、不規則な斑点(はんてん)が入るものがある。開花期は温室やハウス栽培で3、4月である。系統別に大輪のヒブリダ・グランディフローラ系、中輪多花性のヒブリダ・マルチフローラ系、小輪多花性のルゴサ・ヒブリダ系に大別され、一般にはマルチフローラ系品種が多く栽培される。8月ごろ播種(はしゅ)し、温室やハウスで栽培し、早春の鉢植え、4月ごろの花壇植えなどにする。
