It is said that there are nine-hole abalone shells in the basin of Nachi Falls. The monster Takiwarō (cliff-child) is a legend passed down in Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is said that it stays in the mountains for three years and in the rivers for three years, and that if it enters the sea, it will become enko. There are stories of people who encounter it suffering from long-term illnesses, so it is thought to be a variant of the kappa.
