Mikawa [town] - Mikawa
A former town in Tamana District, northwestern Kumamoto Prefecture. Most of the town is hilly, with a small tributary of the Kikuchi River flowing south. The town is involved in agriculture and forestry, and produces rice and vegetables, as well as mandarin oranges. It also produces a lot of bamboo shoots and chestnuts. In March 2006, it merged with Kikusui Town, Tamana District, to become Nagomi Town, Tamana District. Area: 60.48 km2 . Population: 5,795 (2003).

熊本県北西部,玉名郡の旧町。大部分が丘陵で,菊池川の小支流が南流する。農林業を営み,米,蔬菜を産するほか,ミカン栽培が盛ん。たけのこ,クリの産も多い。2006年3月,玉名郡菊水町と合併し町制,玉名郡和水町となる。60.48km2。5795人(2003)。
