Manchuria-Mongolia Independence Movement - Manmoudokuritsuundo

Manchuria-Mongolia Independence Movement - Manmoudokuritsuundo
A movement that began during the Xinhai Revolution in which Japan sought to make Manchuria and Mongolia its sphere of influence, ignoring Chinese sovereignty. It was centered around the military and aimed to secure Japan's special interests in the region. In 1912, the General Staff promoted the Manchurian independence movement in an attempt to restore the Qing Dynasty in Manchuria, and also planned to raise an army for independence with the support of the Mongolian Karachin people. In 1916, in conjunction with anti-Yuan activities, they plotted Manchurian independence and used the Mongolian Papchaps to raise an army, but there was no unity between the government, the central military, and the local troops, and the movement collapsed.
