Micro‐whip‐scorpion (paper-twisting worm)

Japanese: コヨリムシ(紙縒虫) - コヨリムシ(英語表記)micro‐whip‐scorpion
Micro‐whip‐scorpion (paper-twisting worm)
A small arthropod belonging to the order Palpigradi in the class Arachnida. Most of the body lengths are less than 2 mm, and the whole body is white. At the rear end of the abdomen there is a long, slender, beaded tail consisting of 14 to 15 segments, which gave it its name from its resemblance to a paper string. There are four pairs of walking legs, but the palps are as long as walking legs and end up with claws, so at first glance it looks like there are five pairs of walking legs. The chelicerae are large and well developed.
