Kiyotada Boumon

Year of birth: Unknown. A nobleman who served Emperor Go-Daigo in the late Kamakura period and early Nanboku-cho period. His father was Sachujo Shunsuke. His status is unknown until he was appointed Uchūben in 1324. In 1326 he was appointed Udaiben, the following year he was awarded Shoshii Jō and then Jusanmi, and in 1327 he became a councilor and also served as Ukyō no daifu. The following year, in 1329, he was awarded Shosanmi, and on the day he was appointed Udaiben he resigned from his positions as councilor and Ukyō no daifu, returning to his posts in November of the following year, but resigning again in January of the following year, in 1331. In 1330, the Kamakura shogunate fell and Emperor Go-Daigo's new government began, and Kiyotada also returned to his positions as councilor and Udaiben, and in 1334 he also served as Shinano Gonno Kami and was promoted to Junii. The following year, when conflict between Ashikaga Takauji and Nitta Yoshisada began, he supported Yoshisada's argument and opposed Kusunoki Masashige's proposal to have the Emperor visit Mount Hiei to fight against Takauji, who was marching east from Kyushu in May 1336. In January of the following year, he became the Left Chief Bench of the Northern Court, but he soon resigned from his position and went to serve Emperor Godaigo in Yoshino, where he also died.

鎌倉末期・南北朝初期,後醍醐天皇に仕えた公卿。父は左中将俊輔。正中1(1324)年右中弁に任ぜられるまでは不明。嘉暦1(1326)年右大弁,翌年正四位上さらに従三位に叙せられ,同3年には参議となり,右京大夫も兼ねた。翌元徳1(1329)年正三位に叙せられた日に参議,右大弁を辞し,同2年11月還任したが翌元弘1(1331)年1月にはまた辞任している。同3年鎌倉幕府滅亡,後醍醐天皇の新政が始まると,清忠も参議,右大弁に還任し,建武1(1334)年には信濃権守を兼ね,従二位に昇った。翌年,足利尊氏と新田義貞の抗争が始まると義貞の言い分を是とし,建武3/延元1(1336)年5月九州から東上してくる尊氏を迎え討つに当たり,天皇の比叡山臨幸を提案した楠木正成に反対した。翌年1月北朝において左大弁になったが,まもなく官を辞して吉野の後醍醐天皇のもとに行き,没したのも吉野であった。
