Manon Lescaut

This novel was included as an independent story in the seventh and final volume of the French author Prévost's novel The Recollections and Adventures of a Reclusive Nobleman. It was published in 1731. The official title was La histoire du chevalier Des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut. Because of the strong female protagonist's impact, it is now called as written. The 17-year-old, promising young man, Des Grieux, falls in love at first sight with the beautiful young woman Manon in the town of Amiens and follows her lead by running off to Paris.

フランスの作家プレボーの長編小説《隠遁した一貴族の回想と冒険》の最終第7巻に，独立した物語として収録された小説。1731年刊。正式の題名は《シュバリエ･デ･グリューとマノン･レスコーの物語La histoire du chevalier Des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut》。女主人公の印象が強烈なため，今日では表記のように呼ばれている。17歳の前途有為なデ･グリューはアミアンの町で年下の美少女マノンに一目惚れし，言いなりにパリに駆落ちする。
