Strictly speaking, it is a film that is a collection of several short stories originally written or created by one individual. Examples include EA Poe's Histoires extraordinaires (1968) and Akira Kurosawa's Dreams (1990). In general, it refers to a film that is made up of several independent short stories. Many were made in Italy and France after World War II, such as Boccaccio'70 (61), one of which was directed by Fellini. 厳密な意味では一個人の原作なり創作による数編の短編を集めた映画のことで，E.A.ポー原作の『世にも怪奇な物語』 Histoires extraordinaires (1968) や黒沢明監督の『夢』 (90) がその適例。一般には独立した短い物語がいくつか集って一つの作品になったものをさす。第2次世界大戦後特にイタリアやフランスで多く作られた。たとえばフェリーニがその一編を分担監督した『ボッカチオ'70』 Boccaccio'70 (61) など。
