This is an emergency procedure to restart the heart when it suddenly stops due to shock or other reasons. Generally, if it is not performed within a few minutes after the cardiac arrest, it cannot be saved. The patient's hand is placed on the midline of the chest wall, and compressions are repeated several dozen times per minute, as if applying one's own weight. Another method is to open the chest and directly massage the heart with the hands.
