Name of the head of the Utazawa Tora school. (1) Second generation (1813-1875, Bunka 10-Meiji 8). Real name: Hirata Toruemon. A tatami craftsman in Tachibana-cho, Nihonbashi, he was popular for his beautiful voice and sang popular edgy songs, earning him the nickname "Hira Tora." Shortly after Utazawa Sasamaru (Yamato Daijo, 1797-1857) received approval for the new style "Utazawa-bushi" in June 1857 (Ansei 4) and became head of the school, he changed his name from "Hira Tora" to Toruemon. In July of the same year, he was handed the title of second head of the school and received the name "Sagami" from the Saga Imperial Palace. うた沢寅派の家元名。(1)2世(1813‐75∥文化10‐明治8) 本名,平田虎右衛門。日本橋橘町の畳職で,流行の端唄を美音で歌い,〈平虎(ひらとら)〉と呼ばれる人気者であった。歌沢笹丸(大和大掾(やまとだいじよう)。1797‐1857)が1857年(安政4)6月新流〈歌沢節〉の認可を受け家元となった直後に〈平虎〉は寅右衛門と改名。同年7月2代目家元を譲られ,嵯峨御所より〈相模(さがみ)〉の名を受領する。
