A trend of thought seen among Russian exiles in the 1920s and 1930s. It was established in 1920 when Prince NS Trubetskoi published "Europe and Mankind" in Sofia, Bulgaria, and the following year G. Florovsky, P. Savitsky, and P. Subchinsky joined them and published a collection of essays "Escape to the East" in the same city. They defined the Russian people as Eurasians, different from Europeans and Asians, and from this standpoint they criticized European culture in particular and advocated a path of historical development unique to Russia.
