The Omori clan of the Northern House of the Fujiwara clan. Originating from Katsuyama, Suruga County, Suruga Province (present-day Katsuyama, Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture). The Omori Katsuyama Genealogy states that they are descendants of Minister of the Interior Fujiwara no Iechika, but the authenticity of this is unclear. Koreyasu, the ancestor of the Omori Katsuyama clan, was the lord of Takahashi in Mikawa and became governor of both Kai and Suruga provinces, and thereafter the Omori clan produced many Kamakura vassals, including Chikayasu and Chikaie. The Katsuyama clan descends from Chikayasu's younger brother Korekane, and through Korekane's son Koretada, they also produced many Kamakura vassals. Koretada's son Koreshige was known as "Ojukudono" (the Onjuku family) because he stayed with Minamoto no Yoritomo during the summer hunting season at Aizawa in Fujino in 1193 (Kenkyu 4), and some of his descendants even took the name Onjuku.
