An uninhabited island located in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, about 10 km south of Shimoda Port in the southern Izu Peninsula. Its circumference is about 4 km. It belongs to Shimoda City. The lighthouse, completed in 1870 (Meiji 3), is one of the oldest Western-style lighthouses in Japan and a historic site. The surrounding coastline is ideal for rock fishing. As it is privately owned, permission is required to access the island. It belongs to Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. 静岡県東部,伊豆半島南部下田港の南方約 10kmにある無人島。周囲約 4km。下田市に属する。明治3 (1870) 年に竣工した灯台は日本最古の洋式灯台の1つで,史跡。周辺の海岸は磯釣りの好適地。私有地のため渡島には許可が必要。富士箱根伊豆国立公園に属する。
